Designed to capture the power of the Hollywood “see-and-be-seen” culture, large theater-like lobbies expose the drama of the event within. Staples Center is heralded as one of the most successful entertainment buildings in the world. It has succeeded in becoming an integral part of the urban fabric of downtown Los Angeles, serving as a catalyst for downtown retail, entertainment, hotel, and convention center development.
The original master plan for Los Angeles’ Staples Center has grown into what is today known as “LA Live”, one of the most successful entertainment and exhibition centers in the United States with over 5.5 million square feet of retail, residential, hospitality, commercial and performance space.
Both Staples Center and LA Live have been credited for the recent renaissance of downtown Los Angeles. Designed by Dan Meis, FAIA, Los Angeles’ Staples Center is widely considered one of the premier sports venues in the world. This 20,000-seat arena is home to four professional franchises and hosts more than 300 events each year. As the home for the NHL Kings and the NBA Lakers and Clippers, Staples Center is the largest entertainment venue in the world’s entertainment capital city.
